First Planet Pumpkin Pancakes with Atmospheric Syrup
Pancake Ingredients:
Your favorite pancake recipe
Cinnamon (see below for quantity)
Canned Pumpkin (see below for quantity)
Syrup Ingredients:
¾ cup light corn syrup
¾ cup apple cider
¼ tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. butter
Using your favorite pancake recipe, put the dry mix or all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add ½ tsp. cinnamon for each ½ cup of mix or flour used. Mix together well.
In a separate bowl, measure ½ cup pumpkin for each cup of flour or mix used in your pancake recipe. Add other liquid ingredients to pumpkin. Mix together.
Add your dry ingredients to your liquid ingredients. Your mix will probably need extra milk or water added to be the right consistency. It will be thick. It may be thicker than normal pancake batter.
Cook your pancakes as usual—except, try to shape your pancakes like an ellipse (because Mercury has an elliptical orbit).
Syrup
Combine first three ingredients together in a pan and carefully bring it to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, stir constantly. Boil approximately 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add 1 Tbsp. butter and stir until butter is melted through. The atmosphere, or exosphere, of Mercury, is very thin, just like our syrup!
Serve your First Planet Pancakes with Atmospheric Syrup. See if you can identify any craters on the surface of your pancakes!
