In March, 1867, the treaty was signed that transferred ownership of the area of modern-day Alaska from Russia to the United States. On October 18, 1867, the official transfer of power in the region took place. Today we’re going to use some research prompts to dig a little deeper into the history of Alaska and then test our knowledge of what other historic events have taken place on October 18 throughout history.
