I know we usually think of January as the time to remember the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., but there is an important date in October that is also an important piece of his life’s story. On October 19, 1960, Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested along with others for refusing to leave the counter area of a local department store. He was released, then imprisoned for a traffic conviction that was a violation of his probation. He was released soon after because of political forces who did not approve of this overly harsh treatment. We’re going to assemble a timeline of key events in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life with today’s worksheet.
