Most of us have heard about the Chicago fire of 1871 (and all those stories about Mrs. O’Leary’s cow!). But, what we don’t too often hear about is the fact that there was a very large fire in Wisconsin that started the same day, October 8, 1871. It was the Peshtigo forest fire. Today’s worksheet is a compare-contrast assignment that will help you look closer at these two historic fires.
