The first time I remember learning about persecution was in a newsletter or church bulletin that I read. I was probably around 10 or 12 years old, and the story I read was about a group of young girls in China who were martyred when they would not deny Christ. I never forgot that story. How could kids not much older than I was suffer like that for their faith? A Martyr’s Christmas was written with the prayer that boys and girls would understand the reality of persecution today in a way that is appropriate for their ages.
