If you’re new to Exploring with Jake, be sure to read the introduction.
Last week, we went one state to the south of Rajasthan and learned about Gujarat. This week, we went one state to the north and discovered Haryana. More than 25 million people live in Haryana, but very few of them know about Jesus. Some entire people groups, each with more than 100,000 people in them, don’t have a single church or ministry serving them.
Haryana is a land of tourism and farming. Many people come to the region to visit the pretty lakes that dot the countryside. Farming and agriculture are an important part of life for the people of Haryana, too. Lots of things grow very well there, including rice, barley, wheat, chickpeas, and sugarcane.
There is something else that is growing in Haryana, too—the Kingdom of God. There are still lots of people in Haryana who don’t know about Jesus, but nore and more Christians are learning about what the people there need and are finding ways to help them. They are getting to know the people of Haryana and telling them about Jesus. Our Sunday School teacher reminded us this morning of what Jesus said in John 4, “behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (v. 35 KJV).
I’m going to pray that every single person in the state of Haryana hears about how much Jesus loves them and gives their hearts to Him. That would be something extra-special to be thankful for, don’t you think?
“Dear God, please bless the people of Haryana. Help them know that You love them and sent Jesus to be the only Way we can know You and live forever with You. Help the Christians in Haryana to understand the best ways to help the people. And please help everyone in Haryana to live forever with You. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
