All Around India: Eluthassan of Kerala

3 Nov
This entry is part 5 of 26 in the series All Around India Notebooking Series

All Around India Notebooking Eluthassan of Kerala

If you’re new to Exploring with Jake, be sure to read the introduction.

This morning, our Sunday School teacher told us about a group of people in India called the Eluthassan. There are approximately 44,000 Eluthassan living in India, but did you know that there might not be a single Christian among them?

Churches and missions groups haven’t talked to the Eluthassan very much, so there is a lot that we don’t know about who they are and how they live. But that’s the problem. As far as our teacher knows, there isn’t one church or missions group that is telling the Eluthassan about Jesus—yet.

Most of the Eluthassan live in the state of Kerala, which is on the southern tip of India. Kerala has many Christians living in it, but some of the Christians still follow the caste system. If you belong to one caste, there are people in certain other castes that you aren’t allowed to talk to or be friends with.

But God is working in the hearts of the church in Kerala! Christians are realizing that they need to tell everyone, including the Eluthassan, that Jesus loves them and died to save everyone from the mistakes that we make. They are beginning to tell others that Jesus is alive now in Heaven and wants every single person on Earth to hear how much He loves them.

Pray that someone goes to tell the Eluthassan people about Jesus very soon. Pray that all of them will hear the Good News about Jesus and believe in Him to forgive their sins and give them the life that never ends.

“Dear God, please help each of the Eluthassan people to hear about You and love You. Help the Christians in Kerala and all over India to tell everyone they know about You, and please help us to tell the people we know, too. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
