FREE Bible Resource for Preteens and Teens-Study the Life of Joshua, Part Two

The next part of our study of Joshua includes probably the best-known story about his life – the fall of Jericho. Many of the preteens and teens in your life may be familiar with the story, but have they taken a closer look at it? Have they considered Joshua’s encounter with the commander of the Lord’s army or looked at Rahab’s part in the New Testament? Let’s help them take a closer look at the life of Joshua, study passages in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and learn from what God has to teach them.

This resource focuses on Joshua 5, 6, 8, and 12. It looks at God’s command to circumcise the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth, Passover at Gilgal, the appearance of the commander of the Lord’s army, the fall of Jericho and deliverance of Rahab and her family, the battle at Ai, the sacrifice and reading of the Law at Mount Ebal, and victories in the Promised Land.

The activities encourage kids to slow down and carefully consider the text as they read and answer the questions. It asks them to consider not only what God commanded but why He commanded it. It challenges them to look more closely at Rahab’s story and the redemption God brought to her, and it helps them find connections between the events in these chapters and other stories in the Bible. Other activities include memorizing key verses, completing word puzzles, summarizing what they have studied, and more.
