Description
Art Appreciation: Dogs in Art Mini Unit, Level 2 is an easy, no prep way you can share beautiful artwork with your students and help them study works of art as well as their painters and compare and contrast works featuring dogs to see how different artists portrayed their subjects. Designed for ages 11-18, the unit includes 25 works of art by 25 different artists. Each picture study includes the painting along with a notebooking page. Students can do independent research and record the artist’s date and place of birth, date and place of death, and where he or she was from or lived. They can then record the style of the featured painting and the time period it was created in as well as what they notice about the painting and how it makes them feel.
A second work of art for the student to find and view is suggested. They can then compare and contrast the featured artwork and the second piece of art they find. (Note, the recommended artwork is not included in this unit. Students can find the artwork online if desired by using the exact name of the painting to reduce the chance of encountering inappropriate pieces of art. If you wish to purchase Art Appreciation: Dogs in Art Mini Unit, Level 1, it also includes the recommended artwork; simply disregard the activities in Level 1 as they are for younger students.) 53 pages total.
