Description
Children Around the World is a geography-based unit designed to make geography and handwriting fun through traceable copywork and coloring pages. The unit looks at 51 countries from six continents. The capital of each country, along with the continent the country is found on and major maritime and political borders, are studied. The country name, the capital city, the continent name, and other key places are included in a traceable cursive font so the students can trace over them and create their own personal geography book. Each country also includes a regional map that highlights that country’s place in a region. Optional quizzes on the capitals and other facts studied are also included.
Each country is represented by a boy and a girl. The unit’s introduction explains to students that not everyone in a country dresses a certain way. It is explained to students that some of the images represent portions of a nation’s history and heritage, such as Carnival in Brazil and the Mounties in Canada, and that they can have additional fun researching why the characters in the book are dressed the way they are. Please see the unit preview for the full text of the introduction.
Children Around the World is 177 pages total. Available in print or cursive handwriting versions. Ages 5-10.
