Description
Junior Notebooking Journals incorporate primary writing lines and lots of room to draw to help younger kids engage with what they are learning and have fun while learning. This Junior Notebooking Journal gives younger children a chance to draw and/or write about twenty different community helpers, the jobs they do, and the tools they use.
There are three pages for each community helper. The unit is customizable so kids of various ages can complete one or more projects for each community helper. On the first page, students can color objects related to the community helper, such as carpenter tools including a work bench, tool belt, hammer, saw, wood, and nails.
Next, if desired, students can write the name of the community helper and the tools they use on primary writing lines. They can see the correct spelling of the community helper and the tools on the coloring page.
Finally, students can draw a picture of the community helper, use primary writing lines to write a sentence or two about what they do, or both draw and write.
You can choose to use the coloring, drawing or writing—or a mix of activities—to match your student’s abilities. Another option for writing is that the student can dictate their answers to you so you can write them down. They may want to copy the answers into their notebook, but it is completely up to you. 63 pages. Ages 5-10.
Community helpers included are artist, carpenter, chef, construction worker, dentist, detective, doctor, farmer, firefighter, hairdresser, mail worker, nurse, painter, park ranger, pilot, plumber, police officer, reporter, veterinarian, and waiter-waitress.
