Throughout history, people have used colors to symbolize ideas and concepts. What colors mean is often tied to the history and culture of a people group or nation. When nations design their flags, a great deal of thought and work goes into each element. You can help kids discover some of the ways people and nations have used color in their flags to share their history and values with the world with this notebooking unit.

Each page includes a picture of the flag students can color as well as a place to record where the country is located, what the capital city is, and what the colors and images on the flags symbolize.
