Description
Combine art and drawing with these units on famous artists and famous works of art. Students learn from a short background of each artist or painting and practice copying each artist’s portrait or each famous painting on grids. (In Draw & Explore Art: Famous Paintings, some images are more simplified than others, so a range of simpler and harder images is included.) Review questions and answer keys are also included. See a preview of each title at the links below.
Draw and Explore Art: Famous Artists: The Draw and Explore Art series is a great way to combine art and drawing. A short biography of ten different artists is given. Each is followed by an image of the artist on a grid. Next, students can do one or all of the assignments that follow. They can draw half of the image in a grid that shows the left half of the picture, half of the image in a grid that shows the right half of the picture, or the entire image on an empty grid. This makes the unit completely flexible for both left-handed and right-handed students. Ten review questions and an answer key are also included. Artists included are Michelangelo; Pieter Bruegel, the Elder; Benjamin West; Charles Willson Peale; Winslow Homer; Claude Monet; Henri Rousseau; Mary Cassatt; Paul Gauguin; and Charles Marion Russell. 31 pages total. Ages 8-13.
