The Draw and Explore Social Studies series is a great way to combine art and social studies. In each of these two volumes, a short description of ten different world landmarks is given. Each is followed by an image of the landmark on a grid. Next, students can do one or both of the assignments that follow. They can draw half of the landmark in a grid that shows half of the picture, or they can draw the entire landmark on an empty grid. Ten review questions and an answer key are also included.
Landmarks included in Volume 1 are the Atomium, Auckland Harbour Bridge, Big Ben, Chichén Itzá, Eiffel Tower, Hiroshima Castle, Matamata Hobbiton, Statue of Liberty, Voortrekker Monument, and Waitangi Treaty House.
Landmarks included in Volume 2 are the Arc de Triomphe, Colosseum, Great Sphinx, Great Wall of China, Leaning Tower of Pisa, National World War II Memorial, Parthenon, Stonehenge, Sydney Opera House, and the Taj Mahal.
Each volume is 26 pages, for a total of 52 pages. Ages 8-13.
