This is a tough topic to describe to students … sometimes words do not really sink in … the difficulties that Americans of that time period faced seems so unbelievable to our “green-house” raised kids. The pictures and simple text help us immerse ourselves in the subject and to reflect on the realities without complicating it with too much detail.
