Description
This unit study provides a backdrop to the events surrounding the Great Depression along with a short history project. Next, it incorporates more history through the subjects of art, drama, Bible, geography, health, language arts, math, music, and science. Each subject is on its own set of pages, so you can easily do as many or as few of the subjects as you like. That’s ten subjects in one unit!
This unit study is designed for elementary grades, with two bonus projects included to help provide a challenge for upper elementary students. It can be done at any pace but can fit comfortably within two weeks or less.
Unfamiliar with unit studies? Unit studies are great ways to present information through the lens of many different subjects so that students who may not be excited about some subjects can still learn important concepts through other subjects. In this unit study, students engage with art projects, study the Bible, put on a play, sharpen geography skills, learn about health and nutrition, broaden their vocabulary, practice math skills, write a song, and even learn about different kinds of leaves. 21 pages total. Ages 8-13.
If you’d like a deeper focus on history by itself, check out the Great Depression: Discovering American History, Level 4.
Note regarding faith-based content: As each subject has its own page or pages, the Bible section can be used or not used as decided by the parent or teacher.
