We have tried to use history books to teach about early American history, but I find the most effective and fun way is to use these coloring books by Bonnie Rose. The coloring pages and simple phrases highlight the main points that I want my kids to remember.

George Washington Carver is so impressive a historical figure! I was fascinated with him as a kid, I think my kids will be too especially with this coloring book. I downloaded level c so it’ll be great handwriting practice! Loved the illustrations too!
