The story of the history of Pennsylvania is shared in this HUGE resource that includes coloring pages and copywork. There are 144 coloring pages with large print or cursive, traceable copywork. It’s a great way to work some history and handwriting practice into your day. You can even display the finished pages around the room as a way to see the story unfold.
Students will meet the Delaware (Lenape); early European explorers; William Penn; George Washington; numerous United States Founding Fathers from Pennsylvania; Robert Fulton; Phineas Davis; John Roebling; Edwin Drake; George Meade; Winfield Hancock; Andrew Carnegie; George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr.; Charles D. Scott; Samuel Leeds Allen; Milton S. Hershey; Robert Peary; famous Pennsylvanians in World Wars I and II; Jimmy Stewart; Tom Ridge; and other key people from history.
They will also learn about Penn’s dream for the colony; the French and Indian War; Braddock’s Road; Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt; Benjamin Franklin and his inventions; the First and Second Continental Congresses; the American Revolution (including Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton, the Battle of Germantown, and Valley Forge); Pennsylvanians’ role in the Lewis & Clark Expedition; the state’s attempt to stop the expansion of slavery; the Pennsylvania Railroad and the key part Pennsylvania played in the railroad, steel, and iron industries; the Battle of Gettysburg; Groundhog Day; the 1889 Johnstown Flood; Little League; the invention of the Jeep and Piper J-3 Cub; Three Mile Island; Pennsylvania’s part in the events of September 11, 2001; the Quecreek Mine rescue; and much more.
147 pages total. Two levels are available, Levels B and C. Ages 5-10.
