Combine geography, reading comprehension, creative writing, and learning about landmarks with the My Landmarks Travel Journal. In Welcome to France, there is room for students to read about the country as well as 7 key cities or regions and 17 famous landmarks. They can answer reading comprehension questions, practice independent research skills to go deeper and answer bonus questions, practice creative writing by imagining a visit to famous landmarks, complete map work, and sketch the landmarks (or cut and paste images) in their travel journal. An answer key to reading comprehension questions is included. An answer key for bonus questions is not included, as some answers will vary depending on sources used.
This unit explores Paris, Tours, Chenonceaux, Marseille, Rennes, Toulouse, and Normandy and visits the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Centre Pompidou, Louvre, Cathedral of Notre Dame, Palais Garnier, Gare du Nord, Obelisk of Luxor, Pont Alexandre III, Sacre Coeur, Opera Bastille, Saint Gatien’s Cathedral, Chateau de Chenonceau, Marseille Cathedral, Rennes Cathedral, Basilica of St. Sernin, and Mont Saint-Michel. 50 pages total. Ages 8-13.
