Washington Irving is perhaps best remembered as the author of the short stories “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “Rip Van Winkle.” He also had a love of travel and history and wrote many other titles including The Sketch Book which combines beautiful descriptions of historic places with stories, essays, and fiction.
