Timeline worksheet April 8, 1609 Champlain and ScurvyDid you know that Vitamin C is the scurvy-busing vitamin? Samuel de Champlain’s crew suffered from scurvy, a disease that many explorers suffered from because they couldn’t eat enough foods that had Vitamin C. Scurvy was a terrible disease that made parts of the body stop working properly. It was very painful, and it killed some of Samuel de Champlain’s men. The Algonkian people helped them fight it.

Vitamin C can be found in lots of foods, especially citrus fruits and green, leafy vegetables. See if you can spot the scurvy-busting foods in today’s worksheet.
