On June 16, 1858, Abraham Lincoln addressed the Republican State Convention hours after his nomination as their candidate for the United States Senate. Either slavery must be abolished everywhere or made lawful everywhere. He predicted this would not happen until a crisis had been reached and passed. Today we have an excerpt of that powerful speech as copywork.
