If you’re new to Exploring with Jake, be sure to read the introduction.
Today, at church, we listened to the stories of Christians who live in countries where they aren’t free to love God or to learn about Jesus and tell other people about how he died to take the punishment for all of our sins. They aren’t allowed to tell others about how he came back to life and wants to help us live our lives in a way that changes the world. But, because they love Jesus and they care about the people they know, they tell them anyway. And, many of them are punished and persecuted because of it.
These are just a few of the countries were Christians are persecuted:
Afghanistan
Algeria
Bangladesh
Burma
China
Colombia
Egypt
Eritrea
Ethiopia
Gaza and the West Bank
India
Indonesia
Iran
Iraq
Laos
Malaysia
Mexico (Chiapas region)
Morocco
Nepal
Nigeria
North Korea
Pakistan
Saudi Arabia
Sri Lanka
Tunisia
Turkey
Uzbekistan
Vietnam
I’m going to find each of these countries on a map and pray for the Christians there. Will you pray with me? Go ahead and find a map. I’ll be here when you get back.
“Dear God, please be with the people in _______________ who love You. Please help them be brave and help others to learn about how much You love them. Please keep them safe, and please help me to tell other people about Your love. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
