Description
This Color by Coin activity pack is a great way to help students learn to recognize common U.S. coins and how to add coins together to make a total. The unit includes fifteen activities and is flexible. All fifteen color by coin activity pages can be used with younger kids who are learning to recognize the front and back of half-dollars, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies. Each color by coin activity also includes an optional math page that explains how to make a total using certain coins, for example, how two quarters, two dimes, and one nickel equal seventy-five cents.
A page explaining some of the history of Kennedy half-dollars, Washington quarters, Roosevelt dimes, Jefferson nickels, and Lincoln pennies is provided. It also explains the major changes to the design of some of these coins in recent years.
Two charts are provided that show the front and back of each of the coins. One chart shows the older style of coins, and one chart shows the newer style of coins. Six activities use the older style of U.S. coins, six activities use the newer style of U.S. coins, and three activities use a combination of styles.
38 pages total. Ages 5-10.
