Are you familiar with the Joshua Project? They are an amazing research initiative that has compiled information on thousands of unreached people groups around the world. I have learned so much from this site, and I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of their content. One of the things they offer (completely free) is daily emails to remind you to pray for unreached people groups around the world. I’ve tried to get in the habit of opening the email each morning and leaving it open throughout the day to remind me to pray for the people group featured. It’s a hard habit for me to make, because open tabs or documents stress me out after a certain point. But, it is helping me remember to pray throughout the day for people I will likely never meet this side of eternity. There are mornings I forget, or get so busy I don’t take the time to stop and open the email, and I’m sorry for that. With God’s help, I’m trying to build this habit of prayer. Will you join me?
This week, I learned about a number of people groups including the Kaur in Indonesia, the Kurtokha in Bhutan, the Chalvaldi in India, and the Khoja in Pakistan.
- The Kaur in Indonesia are an agricultural community of about 49,000. There are no known Christians among them, and there are no Christian resources available in their language. Please pray that God would make Himself known among them and send to them the teachers and resources that they need to learn about Him.
- The Kurtokha of Bhutan live in an area so isolated that there, according to a report in 1998, there were fewer than five vehicles in the area and not a single gas station. There are no known Christians living there. Please pray that Christians from neighboring communities will reach out to them and explain the Gospel with words and deeds.
- The Chalvaldi in India struggle with poverty and an ever-changing job market. Less than 1% of their 207,000 members have chosen to follow Christ. Please pray for them to have courage and wisdom in sharing the Truth with others, and please pray they will meet open hearts ready to hear and believe.
- There are more than 800,000 Khoja living in Pakistan and another 400,000 living in India and Kuwait. Of those living in Pakistan, none are known to believe in Jesus. Please pray that they will discover the Truth and trust in Christ.
