Martha Gellhorn was born on November 8, 1908. She wrote many books and stories during her life, and she was a war correspondent for almost fifty years, at a time when few women did that job. She reported on wars from the Spanish Civil War in 1937 through the wars and conflicts in Central America in the 1980’s. She worked hard to record what she saw and felt.
Sometimes, we see awful things. We might see something on the news we wish we wouldn’t have. We might read the stories of people who are hurting or suffering. Or, we may see something in real life that is hard to understand. This writing assignment is about dealing with painful experiences. (It is for older students only.)
