All Around India Notebooking Fateh Sagar

If you’re new to Exploring with Jake, be sure to read the introduction.

Last week, we learned about the Eluthassan people who live in Kerala, which is at the southern tip of India. Today, we had to go way up north to the state of Rajasthan.

Do you remember the last time we talked about Rajasthan? We found out that part of Rajasthan is desert, with lots of sand. Other parts are good for farming. Camels are very important to many of the people there. Farmers need them to plow their land; missionaries use them to travel to places where trucks or cars would just sink in the sand! God uses the camels to help feed the people physically, with the food they help the farmers grow, and He uses them to help the people get the spiritual food they need, His Word and the wonderful news that Jesus loves them.

Something else people need to live is water. If you have food but no water, you still can’t survive for very long. Rajasthan is home to several lakes, including Lake Fateh Sagar.

The lake is important for lots of different reasons. It’s home to three islands. There is a solar observatory, which scientists use to study the sun, built on one of the islands. And, the lake is a reservoir, where a lot of the drinking water for the city of Udaipur is stored.

We talked about how important water and sunlight are. If we didn’t have the sun in the sky, nothing on Earth would work right. The plants couldn’t grow and the seasons wouldn’t change. We couldn’t live without the sun and the light that it gives us. It’s the same thing with water. If we didn’t have any clean water to drink, we’d die.

Isn’t it amazing how Jesus showed us that He is the Light, the Living Water, and the Bread of Life? He lights up the darkness and shows us what is right and what is wrong. He helps us grow and change and love other people. And just like food and water give our bodies all the nutrients and energy we need to live, Jesus gives our hearts everything we need to live with Him forever. He gives us the real life that can never end.

I’m going to pray today that God will help all the people of Rajasthan to see that Jesus is the real Light and that He is the only way our hearts can live forever. Will you pray with me?

“Dear God, please help all the people of Rajasthan. Help them not live in the darkness but help them see Your light. Help them understand that no food can make their hearts live forever; only Jesus can do that. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”.
