Description
Students have a chance to dig into the story of the Great Depression with this history unit. Some of the causes and effects of the depression are explored, as well as life during this difficult time. The unit concludes with a timeline project where students can create a timeline of 50 events that happened in the years before, during, and immediately after the Great Depression. Ten review questions test reading comprehension of the material studied. An answer key is included. 17 pages total. Ages 8-13.

I have enjoyed relearning history with this unit. Looking forward to more units like this with reading assignments and comprehension for older elementary/middle school learners. My youngest appreciates that there are still pictures for him to color as he listens and learns alongside his older sister. Any resource that can be used for multiple kids at the same time is a win!

This is sometimes a hard subject to cover – there were a lot of hardships faced by the people that it is hard to convey to kids just how tough life was at this time. Having pictures to go along with the words really helped them visualize the material.
