In the News: A Modern History Notebook About Analyzing the News is a set of templates designed to help older students think critically about the news they see or read, analyze it, and understand how it affects them. It includes nine templates, ranging from a simple form to record main facts to a five-page template that challenges them to not only record the key facts but also research updates that may have come out since the first report they saw, find the same story reported in other sources and analyze the differences, explore the impact the story has on them, and consider how they would have reported the same story. It can be used with any current event or news story. Ages 14-18. 26 pages total.
